The One-in-a-Million Friend of Jamaica campaign will raise needed funds to develop sustainable infrastructure to support OSDJ's outreach efforts—the youth and community development programs need a base of operation and the pediatric patient care program needs suitable facilities to take advantage of the service that overseas healthcare partners can provide.
The goal of this campaign is to recruit one million individuals to commit at least $10 (USD) per year for 5 years.
Funds raised from this campaign will support:
The Davyton Community Outreach Center is a collaborative effort of the Davyton United Church and the OSDJ. The center will consist of dorms, classrooms, kitchen/dining area, offices/meeting rooms, and an auditorium. As a revenue generating facility, it will be used for camps, retreats, health clinics, and short- and long-term mission accommodation.
The program provides essential musical instruments and professional training for music educators across the island of Jamaica. Since 2016, OSDJ has shipped over 200 instruments to Jamaica. However, insights gathered from student camps and teacher workshops have revealed a critical, ongoing shortage of equipment across primary schools, high schools, and colleges. This campaign will fund the sourcing, purchase, and shipment of both new and used instruments.
In tandem with instrument distribution, OSDJ bridges international gaps in music education. Since 2017, the organization has hosted seven forums designed to foster collaborative relationships between schools and higher education institutions in Jamaica and Minnesota. Building on this success, the 8th Music Education Forum will be held from October 14–16, 2026, further nurturing collaboration between educators in Minnesota and Jamaica.
This hospital needs adequate infrastructure to leverage support from its overseas network of physicians, nurses, and physical therapy consultants to assist with patient care, professional development, and healthcare research in Jamaica. The new ward at the Bustamante Hospital for children will provide space for pediatric oncology, pediatric infectious diseases, orthopedic care, physical therapy, and pharmacy.
